- Famitsu reported that the Japanese console market has increased by 46.9% in 2005 comparing to previous year, due to the growth in the handheld market. The sales of console hardware reached 163.9 billion yen. Here are the sales of the top 4 console hardware between December 27, 2004 to December 25, 2005:

Nintendo DS - over 4 million units
PSP - 2.22 million units
PlayStation 2 - 2.13 million units
Xbox 360 - 81,700 units

Mooie cijfers! En zo zie je maar weer dat de NDS echt wat is voor Japanners met games als die Brain Training etc etc =P Zelf zie ik er niks in, maar ze hebben daar ook een best andere smaak dan de meesten hier ^^

MS kan maar beter de stekker uit de X360 halen in Japan. Het heeft geen zin meer. De X360 doet het nog slechter dan de Xbox. En de Xbox deed het al enorm slecht daar, ga maar na...

DOA 4 heeft het niet echt kunnen redden en de Mistwalker gamen komen pas ergens in 2007. Tot die tijd zullen de wekelijkse verkopen niet vaak boven de 10.000 gaan zitten.
 
Volgens mij kunnen ze niet tellen op the-magicbox, ik tel toch echt 8 NDS titels in de top 10.
 
De DS is idd echt bizar goed bezig! Respect voor Nintendo :D

Ik vind een miljoen verkochtte exemplaren voor een middelmatig gehyped spelletje best goed hoor.

Xbox360 is alweer passé in Japan it seems, GC verkoopt beter en zal boosten met Zelda. DS domineert wel heel extreem in Japan. PSP kan dus toch niet winnen. Ergens ook wel logisch, de PSP valt me sterk tegen, niets origineels er op te vinden en uiteindelijk toch veel PS1 kwaliteit.

Mijn (veilige :P) voorspelling: PS3 zal de dominante console worden in Japan en Nintendo blijft de handheld koning. Die Ps2 sales zijn nog erg sterk, en je zou je al afvragen of heel Japan al geen Ps2 heeft... Ps3 zal voortborduren en de oude Ps2 sales halen. Xbox; misschien 3 keer scheepsrecht in Japan (dus niet, die gasten kopen gewoon geen amerikaanse makelij).
 
Nintendo is altijd koning geweest op de handheld markt. En met de Revo zullen ze weer een nieuwe markt aanboren...

Dat denk ik dus ook.. Ik denk dat de Revo het net zo goed gaat doen als de DS. Maar zoals je al zegt Dreamer, boren zij een andere markt aan. Van jong tot oud.

PS3 zal het uiteindelijk ook wel goed doen, alhoewel ik totaal nog niet geinteresseerd ben in dat ding.
 
Wel grappig om te horen dat de PSP niet zo verkoopt als de DS in Japan. Hier in HK zie ik eigenlijk alleen maar mensen met een PSP rondlopen....en als ik dan iemand met een DS zie, dan is het bijna altijd een klein kind of een vrouw.
 
Als een nieuwe markt aanboren ook werkt met een console, dan zou dat best kunnen. Nintendo moet ook wel, want head on in dezelfde sector kunnen ze niet meer winnen van MS en Sony. Industry has matured.

Blijft toch lollig, Nintendo die roept dat de industrie verzaakt terwijl ze zelf tot voor kort amper aan innovaties deden en altijd achter de feiten aanhobbelden. Ben desondanks wel benieuwd naar de Rev, al zijn mijn verwachtingen niet hoog en zal ik em ook niet kopen (of iets als VF5 moet er op uitkomen :D).
